The Pearly Gates is the name of the music ministry of Daniel and Teresa Johnson.  They are recognized as being one of the most unique couples in all of Gospel music.

Since he moved to Nashville in 1989, Daniel has had his songs recorded by such artists as Grand Ole Opry star Stu Phillips; cowboy star extraordinaire Royal Wade Kimes; Christian-Country's legendary group The Fox Brothers; Gospel legend Doug Oldham; R&B stylist Elvin Spencer; Grammy-nominated Dewitt Johnson; Ann Hartmann; and many others.  Phillips' song - "Only God" - and The Fox Brothers' "Red Top Mountain;" "Like Ol' Hank;" and "Tell God Goodnight" reached the top of the Christian-Country charts.

But, in spite of this success, Daniel said there was a missing element in his life until November, 1996, when one of his world adventures led him to the historic city of Rome, Italy.  It was there, he says, that his life was changed forever.  While performing his Christian-Country songs at a Baptist church, he met a singer with "the voice of an angel."  Her name was Teresa Valeriani. 

After a year long courtship, the couple was married on October 17, 1997.  They began their music ministry in 1998.

Since that time, The Pearly Gates have garnered recognition and awards for excellence for thier music and ministry.  In 1998, Daniel was named the "Songwriter Of The Year" by the Country Gospel Music Guild.  In 2002 and 2004, the couple was named the 'Duo Of The Year" by the Guild and received the same honor from The United States Association of Gospel Entertainers and Musicians - USAGEM - in 2009.
