The 2010 USAGEM Convention & Awards Show

by About Our Artists, posted 08/29/10 21:15:43   » For USAGEM Members and Potential Members

The 2010 USAGEM Convention & Awards Show

Our 2010 USAGEM Convention & Awards Show is just around the proverbial corner - November 12 & 13 - and it will be held at the prestigious Texas Troubadour Theatre in Nashville, TN - which serves as the home of our God & Country Jubilee shows.  The convention will begin on Friday evening at the theatre.  That night, we will produce a live show that will be filmed by a professional film crew for possible future television broadcasts.  All members who perform on this show will be allowed to sing two songs (total performance time will be eight minutes; so, select two appropriate songs).  Because of the number of artists we are anticipating to perform on this show, time slots will be assigned.  Every artist will receive a DVD of the show that they can use in any way they choose to further their ministry.  Also, arrangements have been made with the filming crew to have individual performances edited for a nominal price.

Selected artists will be asked to perform on the 2010 USAGEM Awards Show which will be produced on Saturday afternoon.  This show will also be filmed for possible future television broadcasts.  These artists will be asked to perform one song which will be chosen by the producers.  (Only in a rare circumstance will an artist be allowed to perform on both shows).  We will maintain  our commitment to fair and equitable opportunities for all our members.  Therefore, USAGEM artists who performed on the Friday night show may also be asked to present awards on the Awards Show.  So, everyone will receive as many opportunities as possible.  In order to participate in the convention and its events, the basic costs per artist/act/group will be $225.00.  This will be the basic convention fee.  The host hotel will be the very comfortable and convenient Radisson Hotel which is on Music Valley Drive, across the street from the Texas Troubadour Theatre.   Other details of the convention are found on the back of this page.  We want all of our members to make plans to attend all the activities of our Seventh Annual USASGEM Convention and Awards Show.

ARTISTS CELEBRATE THE GOODNESS OF GOD
AT 7th ANNUAL USAGEM BIRTHDAY BASH

ANNOUNCEMENTS OF TOP NOMINEES OF 2010 AWARDS

Nashville, TN - August 10, 2010 - Biblically and metaphorically speaking, for many of those who were in attendance, the earth shook; holy winds whirled; and the waters parted Monday night, August 9, at the Nashville Musicians Union Building when the members and guests of the United States Association of Gospel Entertainers and Musicians - USAGEM - raised their collective voices in song to declare that the Lord "is the Lord of Music Row, also."

The declaration came at the organization's 7th Annual USAGEM Birthday Bash.  "The presence of the Lord was with us in a mighty way," said USAGEM President
Daniel Johnson.  "The place was packed; the preaching was great; the singing was phenomenal; and the food was awesome.  For just about any Christian gathering, all those things added together equals success."

Birthday Bash Band, August 10, 2010

The event featured performances and presentations by some of the biggest names in Gospel and Christian music, including Joanne Cash Yates; The Sonshiners Quartet; Black Gospel TV host Tommie Lewis; Cowboy Joe Babcock of Hee Haw; Lynn Fox of The Fox Brothers; Larrice Byrd of The Fairfield Four; The Dynamic Dixie Travelers; Mitchel Jon; The Gardners; WSM radio ministers Mona Faith and Gene Fant; and many others. The top nominees for the 2010 USAGEM Awards were also annouced during the two-hour program (see below).

Following the Birthday Bash, members and guests gathered for the organization's quarterly membership meeting.  During the meeting, the members voted to conduct their annual convention and awards show November 12-13, 2010, at the Texas Troubador Theatre in Nashville.  The Friday night show, November 12, and the Saturday afternoon Awards Show will be filmed for TV broadcast.

The membership will participate in an-online voting process to determine the Top Five artists/groups of each award category and the Top Five will be revealed during the 2010 USAGEM Awards Show.

USAGEM is a member-run, non-profit, 501(c)(3) charitable ministry organization of musicians and artists who join together to create and participate in creative ministry events.  The artists of USAGEM represent five different genres of Gospel/Christian music, including Black Gospel; Southern Gospel; Christian Country; Bluegrass/Acoustic Gospel; and Contemporary Christian.
