The USAGEM Area Fellowship Group (1) has planned a seminar for the benefit of all USAGEM ,AFG members ,  thoes affiliated with AFG(1) ,and Guests of AFG (1) members. The date is Saturday March 10 beginning at 10:00AM with Eric St. Clair teaching on Live Sound proceedures and trouble shooting live sound. After a sandwich and chips lunch Members of the AlversonBoyd trio will share with us many insights from a recently attended week long Steve Hurst School of Music event. The event is free of charge with a love offering to  be received to off set expenses of the event . If you wish to attend this even please RSVP to dannylewter@usagem.org. The music ministry of the Smith Family began in the mid sixties when Kent`s father, Fred E. Smith left singing with male quartets to begin singing with his children in a family based ministry.This ministry continued until 1970 when Kent ,the oldest son, went into the United States Air Force .Fred then went back to singing with quartets and doing solo ministry.It was near the end of his service in the military that Kent  and Karon Manley were married.Karon was Kent`s long time girl friend and pianist for the Smith Family.This begain the ministry of what would later be known as The Kent Smith Family.It was at this time that Kent also begain an evangelistic lay preaching ministry.In the seventies and  eighties, Kent and Karon sang in several groups most of which they formed themselves .In the early nineties their children 15 year old Kasi and 12 year old Kandace were expressing a strong desire to begin singing. Kent and Karon resigned the group they had formed eight years earlier and the Kent Smith Family as we know it today was formed.Today ,with the addition of Eddie Jones ,Kandace`s husband as vocalist ,The Kent Smith Family sound is complete.Eric St.Clair ,Kasi`s husband ,and a fine vocalist serves as the Kent Smith Family recording producer .You didn`t have to be a singer to date Kent`s daughters but it seems that it did help.Kent has been active in producing gospel concerts and various events.  For several years he was involved in gospel radio,and local TV performing , hosting and co-hosting gospel music programming .The Kent Smith family has had the honor of sharing the stage with many of gospel music`s legends such as J.D.Sumner and the Stamps Quartet,The Chuck Wagon Gang and others too numerous to mention.Through the years, the main drive of Kent and Karon has been to minister the message of Jesus Christ and His love and grace to all who come within the sound of their voices.It is their goal to be used by God as musical evangelists until he takes them home or He returns. To contact The Kent Smith Family concerning appearing at a service or  event in your area please call our office at-256-828-4760 or e-mail kentsmithfamily@cs.com -cell phone -256-653-7926.Official  KSF web site address-www.thekentsmithfamily.com.  The administrative staff and affiliated ministries of the USAGEM Area Fellowship Group (1) have been meeting and beginning plans for the coming year. These plans include a Beggining Of The Year Concert which will be a multi genra concert featuring the diversity of talent found within the ministries in fellowship with AFG (1).  Secondly there will be a Listen and learn seminar in February covering sound reinforcement technics and trouble shooting by "Eric ST. Clair",and a recap of a Steve Hurst school of music recently attended by one of our ministries in fellowship,"AlversonBoyd". In the Spring we plan on  having our first annual USAGEM AFG(1)" Spring Fling" ,at which all ministries affiliated with AFG(1) will perform and they will  seek sponsorship from their friends, family and fellow church members for each song sung on stage this way we also make it a fund raising event. This we pray will be a great day of fellowship and fun for our ministries and their families and we hope to make it a community affair that we might be able to witness for Christ to people that need Him so much. In addition we are working hard to secure ministry dates for our ministries in fellowship to support them with finances and ministry opportunities. Our goal is to build a reputation in our area of influence as a dependable source for quality talent in multipal genres of Christian music that are committed to using spirit anointed ministry to spread the message of the grace and mercy of Jesus Christ.
