Dear Miss Brenda,
I'm thinking about the upcoming event, for the launch of the Ivey Foundation. Although we don't have a foundation to speak of at this time, I believe if we are successful with this first event, then it is worth repeating because, Lord knows, many suffer from diabetes. And that's why we need to plan carefully the presentation I'm calling: "The Feeling of Fragrance-Shared Experience."
First, I need to know that we can bring together the 150 people you mentioned, and that the ticket price, $25, is sufficient to cover costs. I believe you said that you can rent a hall($?), which accommodates this many, and that we can feed everyone (and everyone's sister or brother or cousin left at home who can't join us...if you know what I mean). Also, are we talking finger food where everyone is standing about, or is everyone going to expect a buffet which they can enjoy while seated. Are tables and chairs available? For free, or at a cost?
Regarding the presentation, is there staging with lighting and sound? Are these included with the hall, or are they separate rentals? Do we need insurance under the circumstances? In the presentation, I hope that we can weave together your singing, a little poetry, and my demonstration of perfume blending and use. It is a bit of an interactive olfactory exercise, but then my understanding is that for $25, you get some eats, some fine entertainment, and a goody bag to boot! Is an hour sufficient, or two too much-you know, like prunes?
I intend to provide gifts for up to 200 persons, which I am planning to put together from projected proceeds. Here, you have to understand, that larger perfume companies aren't likely to provide unknown charities gifts unless they can get tax papers from "Ivey Foundation" for a write-off. It's usually a corporate decision that requires a lead-time of up to 12 months. Corporations work slowly because the persons making decisions can't agree on toilet paper much less donations without covering each others back, so to speak. I'm thinking to put into each bag, appropriate for either a man or a woman, a pocket square, a soap, a hand cream, a fragrance spray to be filled during the demo, and fragrance samples sufficient to fill the spray for later use. During the demo, I intend to mention that what they have to blend can be done at home, so that they don't have to fuss while sitting over the food. Now, there is one last treat before the finale(your singing, of course), and that is a toast to someone special in the attendees' lives, unknown to us, but in the heart, who brings inspiration either in daily life or from the past, and deserves a moment of kindness for having touched us, making us feel loved and worthy of all that we have in our lives.
